nigriventer

A two-year study has found that the venom contains a toxin, called Tx2-6, that causes erections.

Further tests are being carried out in the US before the substance can be approved for human use.

The results, from the Medical College of Georgia, are expected in a month’s time.

The bite of Phoneutria nigriventer, known as the Brazilian wandering spider, is potent and can be deadly in some cases.

The Brazilian and US natural cure for erectile dysfunction interviewed men who claimed their sex lives had improved after a spider attack.

The relevant toxin identified in the venom has been tested cure dysfunction erectile herbal on other animals.

So far, scientists believe that combining a version of the spider’s venom with an existing drug for erectile dysfunction - such as Viagra, Cialis or Levtra - could produce better results.

FDA issues new regs to improve safety of dietary supplements

erectile dysfunction drugs

By Kevin Freking

WASHINGTON (AP) - For the first time, manufacturers of vitamins, herbal pills and other dietary supplements will have to test all of their products’ ingredients, the U.S. Food and Drug New treatment for erectile dysfunction
announced Friday.

The agency is phasing in the new rule, which is designed to address concerns that existing federal regulations allowed supplements onto the market that were contaminated or didn’t contain the dietary ingredients claimed on the label.

Last year, the agency found that some supplements contained undeclared active ingredients used in impotence herbals
drugs for erectile dysfunction. In the past, regulators found supplements that didn’t contain the levels of vitamin C or vitamin A that were claimed.

If, upon inspection, the FDA finds that supplements do not contain the ingredients they claim to contain, the agency would consider the products adulterated or misbranded. In minor cases, the agency could ask the manufacturer to remove the ingredient or revise its label. In more serious cases, it could seize the product, file a lawsuit or even seek criminal charges.

Dietary supplements - pills, liquids or other products people take to improve their diets - are a US$22-billion industry.

Most companies already test their raw ingredients once they come into the plant, said Steve Mister, president and CEO for the Council for Responsible Nutrition, a trade association representing about 65 manufacturers.

“This raises the bar so that all have to comply,” Mister said.

The new rule goes into effect Aug. 24 and will have a three-year phase-in that gives smaller manufacturers more time to comply. However, even the largest of the penis pump for erectile dysfunction
won’t have to comply until June 2008.

The rule applies to all domestic and foreign companies that manufacture, package and label supplements for sale in the U.S. It requires them to analyze the identity, purity and strength of all the ingredients that go into their products before they are distributed.

It also includes requirements for record keeping and handling consumer complaints.

Dr. Sidney Wolfe, who has testified before Congress on problems with dietary supplements, said the new rule does not ease his concern that unsafe supplements are too easy to bring to market.

“You still don’t have to show the product is safe. You don’t have to prove it works,” said Wolfe, director of Public Citizen’s Health Research Group.

Congress limited the Food and Drug Administration’s oversight of vitamins and other dietary supplements in 1994. The new rule is a product of that law, meaning that the rule took nearly 13 years to develop.

Under the old regulations, supplements were governed by the same rules that applied to producing foods, such as cans of soup.

“The final rule will help ensure that dietary supplements are manufactured with controls that result in a consistent product free of condition dysfunction erectile more treatment, with accurate labelling,” said Dr. Robert E. Brackett, director of FDA’s Center for Food Safety and Applied Nutrition.

Alaskan man pleads guilty to sale of seal penises

erectile dysfunction drugs

ANCHORAGE, Alaska (Reuters) - An Alaska man has pleaded guilty to selling more than 100 fur seal “oosiks” — or penises — to a local gift shop that intended to sell the items as an herbal cure for erectile dysfunction.

Michael Richard Zacharof, an Aleut and former tribal levitra vs viagra
from the Bering Sea village of St. Paul, pleaded guilty this week to one count of violating the Marine Mammal Protection Act.

Federal law forbids the sale of any raw marine mammal parts unless they have been crafted into pieces of Alaska Native artwork.

In Zacharof's case, the former tribal leader sold the raw seal penises to a gift shop catering to customers from Asia. The shop then sold the items for about $100 each, according to the Justice Department.

Assistant U.S. Attorney Andrea Steward said seal penis bones, also known as seal sticks, are drug for treatment of erectile dysfunction

similar to erectile dysfunction drugs like Viagra.

Zacharof faces a possible one-year prison term and a $20,000 fine, the U.S. Attorney's office said.

Man pleads guilty to selling seal parts to treat erectile dysfunction

erectile dysfunction drugs

ANCHORAGE, Alaska - A man who once agreed to help conserve fur seals has pleaded guilty to illegally selling their parts.

Michael Richard Zacharof, former president of the Aleut Community of St. Paul Island Tribal Government, co-signed an agreement with the National Marine Fisheries Service in 2000 to help manage northern fur seals. Northern fur seals are designated a “depleted species” under the Marine Mammal Protection Act.

Zacharof, 50, of St. Paul Island, entered his plea by telephone in a hearing held Tuesday in U.S. District Court in Anchorage. St. Paul Island is located about 300 miles west of the Alaska mainland in the Bering Sea. Its 460 residents are mostly Eskimo or Aleut.

Zacharof faces up to one year in prison and a $20,000 fine for selling seal parts when he is sentenced in the fall.

A call to his home on St. Paul Island was not immediately returned.

Federal impotence aids say Zacharof illegally sold more than 100 seal penises to a Korean gift shop in Anchorage, where they were to be resold for about $100 apiece in the traditional Chinese medicine trade.

Seal penis bones, also called oosiks, are sometimes believed to work like erectile dysfunction drugs, Assistant U.S. Attorney Aunnie Steward said.

The investigation began in Massachusetts in 2004 when bear gall bladders and seal oosiks were discovered in a Boston suburb. The sales were traced to the Korean gift shop in Anchorage. From there, the parts were traced to Zacharof, an Alaska Native who headed a seal hunt, Steward said.

“They (Alaska Natives) are allowed to do this for subsistence purposes and they also are allowed to convert different parts of the seal to traditional Native handicrafts,” she said. “They can't sell raw unworked marine mammal parts of any kind.”

Steward said the gift shop also faces prosecution.

Kevin Heck, assistant special agent in charge of fisheries enforcement for the National Oceanic and Drug for impotence levitra Administration in Anchorage, said the agency was surprised to discover the scope of the market in seal oosiks.

Such cases are difficult to prosecute for a number of reasons, including the remoteness of St. Paul Island, Heck said.

St. Paul, which is part of the Pribilof Islands, was discovered by Russian fur traders in the 1780s. Fur seals subsequently were severely organic impotence.

Could Viagra Put the Brakes on Jet Lag?

erectile dysfunction drugs

TUESDAY, May 22 (HealthDay News) — Worried about jet lag? Researchers think they might have just the ticket to perk you up: Viagra.

While it's too early to know if it will work in humans, Argentinean researchers are reporting that the drug sildenafil — better known by the brand name Viagra — appears to reduce symptoms of jet lag in hamsters.

Viagra does come with potential side effects, and some men might not appreciate erectile pill a temporary respite from erectile dysfunction at 30,000 feet. Still, a sleep specialist called the research promising.

“We do need more effective therapies for jet lag and for sleep female version of viagra
that occur as a consequence of shift work,” said Dr. Robert Vorona, an associate professor at Eastern Virginia Medical School who's familiar with the study findings.

In the study, researchers administered small doses of sildenafil to hamsters before adjusting the cycles of light and dark they lived in. This reset their body clocks as if they'd taken a six-hour plane trip to the east.

The hamsters recovered 25 percent to 50 percent more quickly from the equivalent of human jet lag, needing less time to synchronize themselves to the new schedule, said Dr. Diego Golombek, a researcher with the Viagra on line order Nacional de Quilmes in Buenos Aires. He said sildenafil worked at least as well as melatonin, a jet-lag treatment.

But the drug didn't help hamsters who underwent a simulation of westward jet travel.

The findings were published in this week's Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences

The drug, originally developed to treat high blood pressure and angina, might alleviate jet lag by viagra vs levitra
with a molecule that sends signals to the hamster brain's body clock mechanism, Golombek said.

But the potential impact on humans isn't clear, and Golombek said people shouldn't rush out to prevent jet lag with doses of Viagra. For one thing, Viagra can cause side effects such as low blood pressure.

As for the next step, Golombek said “a full-scale clinical trial has to be performed in humans, which is indeed quite expensive and time-consuming. Jet-lag trials might involve laboratory simulations, but we also need 'the real thing,' which means testing pharmacological treatments on long-haul air travel.”

And that, he added, will take even more time.

Lab study hints Viagra may harm male fertility

erectile dysfunction

NEW YORK (Reuters Health) - Laboratory studies conducted at Queen's University Belfast, UK suggest that taking the erectile dysfunction drug Viagra may adversely affect sperm function and possibly male fertility.

Recreational users of Viagra need to be informed of the drug's potentially harmful effects on sperm function, the investigators say.

In their experiments, Dr. David R. J. Glenn and colleagues observed that exposure of cultured sperm to Viagra, compared to no exposure, led to a “sustained enhancement of motility,” both in numbers of erectile dysfunction in young man motile sperm and their velocity.

However, exposure to Viagra — at concentrations equivalent to the average maximum total blood concentration present 30 minutes after a single oral dose of 100 milligrams — also caused a premature “acrosome reaction.” Acrosomes are structures that cover the head of the sperm and contain a variety of enzymes that help the sperm penetrate the outer membrane of the egg.

That Viagra may induce early activation of the acrosome reaction has “important clinical implications because sperm that prostate cancer and erectile dysfunction
before contact with the oocyte are incapable of fertilization,” the researchers note in the journal Fertility and Sterility.

“Given that the majority of sperm acrosome react on exposure to (Viagra), the drug may cause significant impairment to their fertilizing potential,” they write.

This is a concern, Glenn and colleagues say, given that Viagra and other like-drugs are widely available on the Internet and are increasingly being used “impotence pump” by young healthy men of reproductive age as sexual enhancers — not just by older men who have erectile dysfunction.

Botox injections ease symptoms of prostate enlargement

erectile dysfunction

WASHINGTON (AFP) - Injections of botulinum toxin A, or Botox, into the prostate gland eased the symptoms of enlarged prostate in men for up to a year, according to the results of a small study published Wednesday.

Researchers at the Chang Gung University Medical College, Taiwan, and the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine, Pennsylvania, based their study on 37 men with benign prostatic hyperplasia (BHP), or enlarged prostate.

All patients received a single injection of Botox into their prostate, the researchers said in their paper published in a summary ahead of this week's American Urological Association's annual conference, in Annaheim, Cure dysfunction erectile natural.

A year into the treatment 27 patients - 73 percent of the group - experienced a 30 percent improvement in urinary tract symptoms and quality of life, said Dr Yao-Chi Chuang, chief cure dysfunction erectile natural for the Taiwanese university.

Chuang said Botox - a popular, surgery-free cosmetic treatment for wrinkles - reduces the size of the prostate gland through a cellular process called apoptosis, in which the prostate cells die in a programmed manner.

The treatment posed no cure dysfunction erectile herbal side effects, such as stress urinary incontinence or erectile dysfunction, said Pittsburgh's Michael Chancellor, senior author of the study.

The reduction in size of the prostate can improve urine flow and decrease residual urine left in the bladder, he said.

“Our results are encouraging because they indicate that Botox could represent a simple, safe and effective treatment for enlarged prostate that has long-term benefits,” Chancellor added.

BHP is one of the most common diseases affecting men as they age. More than half of all men over the age of 60 and by age 80 develop enlarged prostates, the researchers said.

Forty to 50 percent will develop symptoms of BHP, including more frequent urination, urinary tract infections, the inability to completely empty the bladder and, in severe cases, eventual damage to the bladder and kidneys, they added.

Botox is a powerful neurotoxin introduced nearly two decades ago. It is used to cure some facial problems but is best known for its cosmetic qualities in paralysing facial muscles and thus giving foreheads a wrinkle-free appearance.
